Who would have thought, the WhatsApp instant messaging application turned out to have a number of hidden features. Although called hidden, this feature is actually accessible to anyone if you know how.

Users can use it to facilitate various things, such as maintaining privacy, reducing data consumption, to save conversations in text form

1. Hiding "Last Seen"

You can back up conversational data so that when you switch phones, all old conversations can be restored. The method is easy.

Simply enter your Gmail account, and set the application to automatically backup for a certain duration. Furthermore, everything will run automatically.

The trick, open the chat tab that you want to save in text form. Touch the three points in the upper right, continue to the More bar and touch the Email Chat option.

Then you can choose whether to choose various media in a conversation or just text. After selecting an email will appear to send the conversation.

4. Block contact

The trick, open a conversation with the person you are addressing. Touch the three point menu at the top right and select the More tab. You will find the Block option between the menus that appear. Touch it, and blocking is complete.

5. Stop automatic downloading

Usually various photos and media sent via WhatsApp will be automatically downloaded. This results in considerable power consumption, in addition to also consuming data packages.

You can change settings so that all media received by your WhatsApp number are not automatically downloaded.

The trick, go to the Settings menu, and select Data Usage. Inside is a tab labeled Media Auto Download that contains settings for the automatic download.

There are three tabs, namely When using mobile data, When connected on WiFi, or When roaming. Any media can be selected on any tab that will be downloaded automatically or not downloaded at all.

6. asterisks

You can give an asterisk to every conversation on WhatsApp. This sign is useful for recording various important information, such as a home address or telephone number.

The trick, select the message you want to mark, touch and hold for a few seconds. An asterisk will appear in the WhatsApp header, right next to the "delete" icon. Choose the star.

If you want to see various messages that have been starred, you can simply touch the three point menu in the upper right corner. Next select the tab that says "Starred messages".

7. Hide the read mark

Each message sent and read will be marked with a blue check. If you don't want the other person to know the status of the message has been read or not, you can change it.

Go to the Settings menu, then Accounts and Privacy. Inside, exactly at the bottom, you will find a tab that says Read Receipts. Uncheck the bar to deactivate it.

8. Letters are bold and italic

WhatsApp can now display bold, italic, and strike through letters. You can do this by entering special characters before and after the word you want to format.

To be thick, use an asterisk (*) between the * desired words *. If you want to make it sideways, use the underscore sign (_) between the desired words_, and if you want to make a sentence crossed (strike through), use the ~ sign between the desired words ~.

9. Flick friends in the group

WhatsApp has a feature that "pokes" friends in communicating groups. Using this one feature, users who are members of the approved group will be more alert when mentioned.

Because the feature will still issue a system notification sound when the user is mentioned, even though the conversation group has been created in silent mode.

Previously, if a user muted a group, the system would not issue any notification sounds. What can you do? What are you looking for?

The features mentioned can be used with the character "@" (without quotes). After typing the "@" symbol in the conversation column, a row of contact names in the group will appear.

Users can ask for the desired contact name or choose one from the list of contacts raised by WhatsApp.

10. Reply to a message that has been sunk in the group

If you want to quote one of the messages in the group and reply to it, you must long press the message. The WhatsApp interface will bring up several icons to act.

One of them, which is located at the far left, has an arrow icon. You just press it once, then WhatsApp will automatically quote the message you want to comment on.

After writing a comment, send the message. Group members will understand that you are replying to a specific chat that one person made.
